In June 2025, industry professionals, politicians and municipal representatives gathered for the annual Sommervind conference, organised by Fornybar Norge at Union Scene in Drammen. Nordic Wind was of course present to gain insight and future visions within the wind power industry.
We met Elisabeth Sæther, State Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, who opened the conference with a clear message:
"Norway needs more wind power projects to secure electricity production and the country's competitiveness in the future."
She emphasised the importance of investing in renewable energy in order to achieve both national and global climate goals.
"Renewable energy is not just about climate, it is also about creating jobs and optimism for the future throughout the country," said Sæther.
The conference programme included a series of presentations and panel discussions addressing technological innovations, environmental challenges and societal impact. Nordic Wind participated actively in the discussions and had the opportunity to network with key players in the industry.
A representative from Nordic Wind explains:
It was a great forum for meeting and discussing with colleagues in the industry, as well as getting updates on current topics. We particularly appreciate the opportunity to gain insight into the authorities' views and plans for wind power in Norway.
Nordic Wind sees the conference as an important platform for contributing to a sustainable energy transition and strengthening cooperation between industry, authorities and local communities.
"Being part of such contexts helps us to continuously develop and stay at the forefront when it comes to sustainability issues and technological development," says Nordic Winds' representative."

Sommervind 2025 confirmed that wind power has a key role to play in Norway's future energy mix – both to ensure access to renewable electricity and to contribute to a greener and more competitive economy.
